January and February are the best months to catch Big Female Bass. Typically we see a lot of Bass in the 5 to 10 lbs. range and the larger Bass will be the females swelled up with eggs.  The first spawn will be in a foot of water. The Bass will spawn out into to deeper waters as it warms. Favorite bait this time of year is a live wild shiner!

The crappie are starting to move into shallow spawning area. Lilly pads, spatterdock, and reeds are the usual areas they spawn.   Jig tipped with a minnow is the bait of choice.

Fall Bass season is upon us.

The weather is changing. The ducks are arriving for the winter. The Bass are schooling up, feeding on shad before they make a push, toward the shallow water to compete for Spawning. The Big female Bass will be right behind them.  If you are coming to Florida this winter and like to fish. You should give the Florida strain largemouth Bass a try.
